THE BIG BLUE DANCE PARTY
presented by:
Lyle and Lou
Score of the Game:
20 Giants, 23 Dallas
Highlights of the Game:
The Giants are in a fight for their playoff lives. Although they tied the score three times after falling behind, the Giants surrendered big plays in the final minute of the game and lost today to the Dallas Cowboys in Giants Stadium, 23-20. The Giants lost their fourth consecutive game and fell to 6-6, two games behind the 8-4 Cowboys in the NFC East race. Marion Barber ran for two touchdowns and Martin Gramatica kicked three field goals for Dallas, including the game-winning 46-yarder with only one second remaining. Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress touchdown passes and Jay Feely kicked a pair of field goals for the Giants. After Burress’ touchdown reception tied the game, the Cowboys took possession at their own 32–yard line with one minute left. On the first play, Tony Romo rolled left to evade a rush, then hit tight end Jason Witten for a 42-yard gain to the Giants’ 26. Barber gained a yard and the Cowboys lost five before Gramatica –signed just last week - lined up for the game-winning kick. His kick was perfect sending to the Giants to a crushing defeat for the second week in a row.
Tailgate Highlights:
Tony Romo!! Is a homo!! 30,000 Giants fans parked in the lots surrounding 17 E had to be wondering how such a catchy jingle had entered their heads as they walked into the game against the hated division rivals. Perhaps it was the DJ booth in the corner of the island known as 17 E, where 2 speakers and 1000+ watts of power were conveniently directed at the stadium and parking lot….defiant….as if to jest “Have you not yet experienced a true tailgate party?” The two gentlemen responsible for putting the “party” back into tailgate party this time was Lyle and Lou. Naturally. Cigars were smoked, beer consumed, and an eight hour non-stop dance party ensued complete with football anthems, a familiar jig, a hay mosh pit, the return of last game’s Fantasia strippers (huzzah!), and even a strange and forgettable appearance by a smelly crack-head just before the game (clearly not a Guhyre).
Speaking of smells, the Taco quiche marks the first time such cuisine has graced the island, while smoky beef brisket, buffalo/venison chili, and an assortment of pies kept the dancers well-fed. Even as last year’s award was belatedly presented to Jon and Kelly, the day belonged to Lou and Lyle. People turned their heads to look a second time. Women flocked to the banner and beats. We were heard across the parking lot. Fox ‘s Live Tailgate must have had to acknowledge that when it comes to tailgates, 17 E is proud to be….a New York Giant!!
